Formed in 1973, the band Casa das Máquinas spent many years away from the stage before returning in 2007 - Publicity

An alternative for those wanting to stay far from the samba parades, carnival marches, funk, axé, and sertanejo music of the electric trios, Carnarock Votorantim is tailor-made for lovers of good old rock and roll. The lineup—rare during the season when traditional Carnival dominates—features a mix of local, regional, and nationally recognized bands. Organized by the Votorantim City Hall through the Department of Culture, the event takes place at the José de Oliveira Souza Urban Complex, "Zeca Padeiro" square, starting at 2 PM today and is free of charge.

The highlight of the event is the band that emerged in the 1970s and recently returned to the scene: Casa das Máquinas. Formed in 1973, the band enjoyed great success with songs like "Vou Morar no Ar" and "Casa de Rock," but disbanded in 1978. In 2007, they returned to the stage at the Psicodália Festival in Santa Catarina and haven’t stopped since.

For those who missed out on the band during the golden era of 1970s rock and roll, it’s worth noting that, early in their career, they were known as "the new Incríveis" and toured Brazil with a repertoire that included songs by Elvis Presley, Paul Anka, Chubby Checker, Neil Sedaka, and others. Their performances featured costumes, makeup, and grand theatrical displays on stage.

On their first album, the band adopted a hard rock style. On their second album, "Lar de Maravilhas" (1975), they transitioned to a more progressive style.

After many years away from the stage, the desire to return was strong, and for a long time, the musicians explored the possibility. The first step came in 2003, when they reunited for a one-time performance in Matão, São Paulo. The response exceeded their expectations, but the band’s official return didn’t happen until late 2007, when they began preparing a new album for 2008, 30 years after their last release. Invited to perform at the Psicodália Carnival Festival in the Serra do Tabuleiro region of Santa Catarina, they presented an entirely new setlist to an audience of approximately three thousand people, marking the band's return.
